The beauty of Khulu Lodge is that it combines luxurious and private accommodation with old world hospitality and service. Inspired by the breathtaking splendor of Hwange National Park, Khulu Ivory reflects Africa’s timeless wonder and natural beauty, providing you with the ultimate and utterly unforgettable safari experience.
Positioned on the south eastern border of Hwange Game Reserve there is a remarkable amount of wildlife roaming freely around Khulu’s private conservancy of 6000 acres which is well located just 3 ks off the Bulawayo / Victoria Falls road.
Designed for those who are looking for a real escape, Khulu caters for no more than twelve guests at a time. Each tented chalet is slightly elevated and faces the waterhole and has an open vista of an old riverbed, where you can enjoy endless views of the plentiful game that meander through the untouched concession.
This intimate camp comprises of three bespoke thatched safari style suites built onto platforms. The rooms are well appointed and each designed in a modern contemporary style. Each suite has an indoor and outdoor shower, a balcony for game viewing and individual tea and coffee making facilities. The beds are twins, but can be converted to super king size for double occupancy.
Khulu has been carefully designed to have minimal impact to its surroundings and the environment. Khulu overlooks an ancient riverbed, in today’s terms called a ‘vlei’ and the waterhole in this vlei is known to attract a variety of the greatest wildlife and bird life in Hwange National Park.
There is a comfortable and elegantly-styled main lounge which is the ideal place to start your day with a hot cup of coffee, or relax with a refreshing cocktail in the evening, taking in the magnificent scenery surrounding you. Family-style dinners are also served here and at meal times you can dine on your own or enjoy the company of other guests.
The banter around the table is a lot of fun and you meet some interesting people from around the world who all have a story to tell. It is such a pleasure to witness the excitement of visitors describing their safari experiences and ‘sightings’ for the day. All before indulging in the delightful cuisine prepared by Khulu’s skilled chefs
Khulu’s main lodge area has a full bar and provides a wide variety of local and imported beverages. There is a plunge pool located on the deck of the main area, as well as a raised fire pit for stargazing and night caps. All the camps water is from our borehole and there is an on site laundry service.
During the warmer months you can take a dip in the pool located on the deck overlooking the pan or gather around the fire pit underneath the brilliant African night sky, where new acquaintances become friends. These special moments truly captures the essence of the African experience and does not compare to any other place in the world. Many fond memories will be created and you will find yourself reminiscing about those nights around the campfire years after you have departed from this little piece of paradise.
